INAIR 2015
International Conference on Air Transportation
Innovation Challenges Towards a Sustainable and Reliable Operation
12th -- 13th November 2015
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
=====================================================
Air Transport is nowadays mainly covered in topics like airport planning (infrastructure development); the criteria of success are defined in terms of number of runways, apron stands, terminal facilities etc. Airport capacity shortage requires optimal usage of existing infrastructure. The impact of climate change and resource shortage increases the complexity. Aviation has to optimise its overall capacity usage within even tighter constraints. Resilience of the aviation system is becoming a big issue; reliability of schedules and procedures for all stakeholders involved (including passengers and local communities in the airports neighbourhood) is at stake. Disturbances due to severe weather, technical issues etc. might cause huge delays and costs. Solving these challenges require a mind shift towards changing and optimising processes, innovation in infrastructure usage, logistics and cooperation between partners. The interaction between researchers and industry representatives is a key in order to come up with innovative solutions for future challenges. The INAIR Conference is intended to be a forum where Industry representatives and Academia meet to exchange ideas and set up common challenges.
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Industry representatives and researchers from research institutions, universities, airlines, air traffic service providers and industry are invited to submit extended abstracts or full draft papers (limited to 6 pages) presenting results of their work. Industry representatives are welcome to send the abstract of the topic considered for presentation. Academic Papers will be reviewed based on the problem addressed, as well as the approach and methods applied in current problems of aviation industry. Selected papers will be included in the Proceedings of the conference.
Areas of interest are, but not limited to:
- Optimization of processes in aviation
- Capacity & efficiency improvement
- Airport congestion
- Airport capacity forecast
- Business intelligence for airport

Jeju Island, South Korea
October 21-23, 2015
Technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Technology Management Council
Accepted workshop papers will be published in the proceedings indexed by
IEEE Xplore.
About the Workshop
Data are growing at an exponential rate nowadays. In order to take
advantage of them, it is important for businesses and organizations to be
able to make sense out of them by determining the trends, patterns and
underlying insights of the gathered data. Hence problems can be detected
early before they result in actual damage. Some examples of data analytics
cover tasks of finding suspicious records in accounts payable, evaluating
activities of business processes, modeling customers' behavioral patterns
and deriving the best strategies in business decision etc. Such complex
tasks go beyond simple statistics. Advanced tools such as data mining, data
modeling, data visualization, and information analysis etc. have been
extensively researched recently. The objective of this workshop is to
provide an interactive platform for academic researchers and industrial
practitioners to exchange ideas, disseminate the latest development in data
analytics and data visualization. Conceptual models, tools, and current
issues are encouraged to be discussed. The workshop welcomes paper
submission includes but not limited to the following areas:
Data retrieval and management
Innovative methods for understanding and interacting with data
Innovative methods for data analysis, presentation and visualization
Innovative methods for solving current data problems
New statistics techniques for improving current solutions
Advanced software system and algorithms for data visualization

The 9th Theory of Randomized Search Heuristics workshop continues the
tradition of discussing theoretical aspects of randomised search heuristics
such as evolutionary algorithms, ant colony optimisation, particle swarm
optimisation, simulated annealing, and other heuristics inspired by natural
or physical processes. It provides a forum to discuss novel and ongoing
work, new trends and ideas, and aims at stimulating interactions within the
research field and between related disciplines. The ninth workshop of the
series will take place in Sheffield, UK on the 11th and 12th of September,
2015; details about the venue as well as all other information pertaining
to the workshop can be found on the workshop homepage
*http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~dirk/thrash2015
<http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/%7Edirk/thrash2015>*.
We invite researchers working on theoretical aspects of randomized search
heuristics who would like to present and discuss their work to submit a
short abstract (a single page, either in plain text or pdf). As always at
ThRaSH, the primary focus is on discussing recent ideas and detecting
challenging topics for future work, rather than on the presentation of
final results.
Registration to the workshop is free. However, we ask participants to
register by the registration deadline. Please let us know if you have any
dietary requirements so that we can take this into account in the
organization. As an optional social event, we will organise a hike in the
Peak District national park (http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/) in the
afternoon of Thursday 10th September for participants arriving early.
