The Institut f?r Informatik der Christian-Albrechts-Universit?t zu Kiel
offers a full-time PhD/Postdoc position. The full (german) text of the

Stellenausschreibung
Am Institut f?r Informatik der Christian-Albrechts-Universit?t zu Kiel
ist m?glichst zum 15. Oktober 2014 in der Arbeitsgruppe Theoretische
Informatik (Prof. Dr. Thomas Wilke) die Stelle einer/ eines
wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiterin/ Mitarbeiters
f?r die Dauer von zwei Jahren zu besetzen. Die regelm??ige w?chentliche
Arbeitszeit betr?gt die
einer/eines entsprechend Vollbesch?ftigten (zz. 38,70 Stunden). Das
Entgelt richtet sich nach Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L. Die Lehrverpflichtung
betr?gt vier Lehrveranstaltungsstunden.
Der Stelleninhaber/ die Stelleninhaberin soll in einem der Gebiete
"Logik in der Informatik/Automatentheorie" oder "Theorie der
IT-Sicherheit/ Kryptographie" an der Forschung der Arbeitsgruppe mitwirken.
Voraussetzung f?r die Einstellung ist
(1) ein k?rzlich erlangter herausragender Masterabschluss in Informatik
oder Mathematik mit Studienschwerpunkt Informatik oder Vergleichbares oder
(2) eine ausgezeichnete Promotion in Informatik in einem der oben
genannten Gebiete oder einem verwandten Gebiet sowie entsprechende
Ver?ffentlichungen.
Liegt die Voraussetzung (1) vor, wird die M?glichkeit zur Promotion
gegeben und eine Verl?ngerung der Besch?ftigungsdauer ist m?glich. Liegt
(2) vor, so wird erwartet, dass eine weitere wissenschaftliche
Qualifikation angestrebt wird. In beiden F?llen geh?ren allgemeine
organisatorische Aufgaben der Arbeitsgruppe zur T?tigkeit.
Die Christian-Albrechts-Universit?t zu Kiel ist bestrebt, den Anteil von
Wissenschaftlerinnen in Forschung und Lehre zu erh?hen und fordert
deshalb entsprechend qualifizierte Frauen nachdr?cklich auf, sich zu

Fulkerson Prize 2015 - Call for nominations
The Fulkerson Prize Committee invites nominations for the Delbert Ray
Fulkerson Prize, sponsored jointly by the Mathematical Optimization
Society (MOS) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS). Up to three
awards of US $1,500 each are presented at each (triennial)
International Symposium of the MOS. The Fulkerson Prize is for
outstanding papers in the area of discrete mathematics. The prize
will be awarded at the 22nd International Symposium on Mathematical
Programming to be held in Pittsburgh, USA on July 12-17, 2015.
Eligible papers should represent the final publication of the main
result(s) and should have been published in a recognized journal or in
a comparable, well-refereed volume intended to publish final
publications only, during the six calendar years preceding the year of
the Symposium (thus, from January 2009 through December 2014). The
prizes will be given for single papers, not series of papers or books,
and in the event of joint authorship the prize will be divided.
The term "discrete mathematics" is interpreted broadly and is intended
to include graph theory, networks, mathematical programming, applied
combinatorics, applications of discrete mathematics to computer
science, and related subjects. While research work in these areas is
usually not far removed from practical applications, the judging of
papers will be based only on their mathematical quality and
significance.
