CALL FOR PAPERS
The Ninth IEEE International Workshop on
Autonomic and Opportunistic Communications
(AOC 2015)
http://cnd.iit.cnr.it/aoc2015
sponsored by
IEEE Computer Society,
EU FP7 MOTO Project
June 14-17 2015, Boston, MA, USA
The diffusion of lightweight, powerful portable devices, also enriched with a
variety of sensing capabilities, is enabling new ways for users' communication,
and laying the foundation for realizing the ubiquitous networking idea. Acting
either as the main communication mode or as complement to existing mobile
network infrastructures, opportunistic networking can leverage the mobility of
end users and enhance their communication capabilities. The opportunistic
exploitation of extemporary contacts among the users of the network paves the
way to a number of applications but also poses new and challenging problems to
the networking research community. The AOC 2015 workshop aims at serving as a
meeting point for people working in the area and a forum for exchanging ideas,
discussing solutions, and sharing experiences among researchers, professionals,
and application developers, both from industry and academia. As with the
previous eight editions of the AOC workshop series, the scope of this year's
workshop will remain on general issues related to opportunistic networking and
computing. Yet, AOC 2015 will have a primary interest in new directions of
opportunistic communications, such as mobile social networking, autonomous
solutions for smart cities, big data for autonomic and opportunistic systems
service composition techniques, scenarios of co-existence with infrastructure
networks, and insights to their operation coming from other disciplines such as
game theory and cognitive psychology. The workshop will solicit original papers
addressing theoretical and practical aspects of autonomic and opportunistic
communications but also papers describing prototype implementations and
deployments.
Topics of interest for AOC 2015 include, but are not limited to:
- Techniques for data dissemination and replication
- Context and social awareness mechanisms and algorithms
- Autonomous and self-adaptive systems for smart cities
- Autonomous solutions for IoT and cyber-physical systems
- Big data for autonomic and opportunistic systems
- Mobile social networking algorithms and applications
- Co-existence of opportunistic networks with infrastructure mobile wireless
networks
- Mobility models and statistical analysis of mobility traces
- Service composition in autonomic and opportunistic networks
- Cognition-driven information processing and decision making
- Performance modelling, scaling laws, and fundamental limits for autonomic and
opportunistic communications
- Participatory and urban sensing in autonomic and opportunistic networks
- Game-theoretic insights to the operation of autonomic and opportunistic
networks
- Trust, security, and reputation
- Autonomic and opportunistic communication testbeds and prototypes, measurement
data from real experiments
- Socio-economic models for autonomic and opportunistic communications
- Autonomic and opportunistic solutions for mobile cloud applications
- Applications and middleware support
- Routing, transport, and reliability issues

Computing and communication technologies impact energy systems in two
distinct ways. The exponential growth in deployment of these
technologies has made them large-scale energy consumers. Therefore,
new architectures, technologies and systems are being developed and
deployed to make computing and networked system more energy efficient.
Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, these technologies are at
the center of the on-going revolution in next generation ?smart? and
sustainable energy systems. They measure, monitor and control energy
systems such as the smart grid; inform and shape human demand; aid in
the prediction, deployment, storage and control of energy resources;
and determine how utilities, generators, regulators, and consumers
measure, analyze, and collectively control system elements.
The sixth International Conference on Future Energy Systems (ACM
e-Energy), to be held in Bangalore, India in July 2015 aims to be the
premier venue for researchers working in the broad areas of computing
and communication for smart energy systems (including the smart grid),
and in energy-efficient computing and communication systems. By
bringing together researchers in a high-quality single-track
conference with significant opportunities for individual and small
group interactions, it will serve as a major forum for presentations
and discussions that will shape the future of this area.

E^2DC 2015 http://www.dc4cities.eu/en/?page_id=3372
One challenge of society is to reach the United Nation?s max
2?C-climate change goal, which means to reduce at least 80% of
anthropogenic CO2 emissions. With an increasing share of global
industry?s carbon footprint data centres have a high responsibility
towards this goal. Innovations like new efficient and energy
proportional server generations, energy-aware workload management, or
highly responsive data center designs have contributed to slowing down
the formerly sharp increase of data centres? energy demand. However,
the ongoing global digitization is counteracting this development.
E2DC offers the opportunity for researchers of all data centre domains
to commonly advance the potential of yet unknown innovations in order
to continue the race for sustainability in and by data centers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
DEN 2015 http://wattalyst.org/WattalystWebsite/DENWorkshop.html/
Building upon a successful Demand Response (DR) workshop in 2014, this
workshop extends its scope seeking to present innovations in all
aspects of distributed energy networks, including generation, storage,
and demand, and their implications on larger electricity grids.
Recent years have seen a groundswell of new technologies and massive
cost reductions in distributed energy networks, ranging from
distributed electricity generation, energy storage, sensing, metering,
solid-state power conversion, energy management systems, and
demand-side management. The core distributed nature of these systems,
where a large number of participants work cooperatively, tears at the
fabric of electricity grids, which for the last century have been
operated with centralized management, planning, and control. We stand
at a precipice where developments in distributed energy networks have
the potential to guide the next century of energy delivery systems and
networks.

Rocky Mountain-?Great Plains Graduate Research Workshop in Combinatorics 2015 (GRWC 2015)
June 1-?12, 2015 (Arrive May 31, depart June 13)
Iowa State University
Ames, IA, USA
GRWC is a 2-?week collaborative research workshop for experienced graduate students from
all areas of combinatorics, broadly interpreted. Students will work in collaborative groups with
faculty and postdocs on research problems from across the discipline. The workshop will
also host a variety of professional development workshops to prepare students and postdocs
for the job hunt and their transition to the careers in academia, government, or industry.
All graduate students applying to participate in the GRWC will submit an open problem in
combinatorics. Organizing faculty will engage in 1-?on-?1 mentoring with participants to help
them refine their submissions. These problems will form the basis of the collaborative
research undertaken at the workshop.
We anticipate funding (lodging, some meals, and in some cases travel) for 10-?20 graduate
students from outside of the organizing institutions. Applications are encouraged from
students at institutions both within and outside the United States. There is funding both for
students from US institutions as well as funding for those from outside of the US.
Applications can be submitted at MathPrograms.org<http://MathPrograms.org>. The organizing committee will begin
considering applications on February 16th and will respond to all applications by March 13.
More information is available at the workshop website: http://sites.google.com/site/rmgpgrwc
Apply at https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/355
Please direct all inquiries to grwc2015@gmail.com<mailto:grwc2015@gmail.com>
The organizing institutions for GRWC are Iowa State University, University of Colorado
Denver, University of Denver, University of Nebraska-?Lincoln, and University of Wyoming.
The workshop is funded in part by these institutions, the Institute for Mathematics and its
Applications (IMA), Elsevier, the International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS), and we have
applied for US NSF funding.
