Call for papers
IEEE Access Special Section in Big Data for Green Communications and Computing
Submission Deadline: January 30, 2015
Paper submission: :
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ieee-access
IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of Big Data for Green Communications and Computing. With the rapid growth of data in the past few? years, information and communication technologies have made significant impacts on global environments on both positive and negative aspects. International efforts have started to advance green energy initiatives to create sustainable energy systems to support economic and societal development. Generation of huge amounts of data, called Big Data, across different sectors such as banking, healthcare, retail and education, among others, is creating the need for an efficient tool to manage this data. Conventional database management tools do not have the capability to manage surging volumes of unstructured data. For example, more than 80% of data is unstructured in the form of videos, tweets, GPS coordinates and emails, which means that decisions need to be made at high velocity. Data is expected to exponentially grow through !
data collected via pervasive sensors and/or the Internet. It also leads to new emerging challenges that have the potential to create more accurate solutions for science and technologies. We believe that big data has a significant impact on green communications and computing, which aims to provide energy-sustainable, resource-saving, and environment-friendly solutions. But how can one leverage the use of Big Data technology in order to become really green? For this Special Section in IEEE Access, we invite academic and industrial researchers to identify and discuss technical challenges and recent results on new concepts and technologies to achieve green communications and computing, as well as new ideas in big data for green communications and computing applications and services. The contributions may present novel concepts, ideas, models, methodologies, system design, and experiments for providing objective comparisons between potential ideas and solutions. Topics of intere!
st include, but are not limited to: Big Data for green network modeling, green networking and protocols, green communication management, green network architecture design, green data center networking and computing, green network security, privacy, and trust, and green network fault tolerance.

Call for Papers SSS 2015 August 18-21, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Proceedings to be published as a Springer LNCS Volume.

Website: http://sss15.cs.ualberta.ca

****************************************************************

The Symposium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems is an international forum for researchers and practitioners working on the design and development of distributed systems that guarantee specific desired properties despite adversity, or that are able to restore the desired properties following adversarial perturbations in the computing medium building on the principles of self-stabilization.

Research in distributed computing and distributed systems continues its vibrant development, marked by the importance of dynamic systems, such as peer-to-peer networks, large-scale wireless sensor networks, mobile ad hoc networks, mobile agent computing, opportunistic networks etc. Moreover, new applications such as grid and web services, banking and e-?commerce, e?-voting, e-health and robotics, aerospace and avionics, automotive, industrial process control, have joined the expanded landscape of distributed systems. It is becoming increasingly important to endow all such systems with built?-in means for self?-management, self?-protection, and self?-repair.

The symposium encourages the submission of original contributions spanning fundamental research and practical applications within its scope.

Paper Submission

Papers must be prepared using the LNCS style and be electronically submitted in PDF format using EasyChair (address to be announced on symposium website). Contributions can be submitted as either Regular Papers or Brief Announcements, to a specific track. Submissions for regular papers must be no longer than 15 pages (including the title, authors, abstract, figures, and references) and may have an additional appendix to be read at the discretion of the Program Committee. Brief announcements are restricted to two pages with no appendix. Submissions deviating from these guidelines will be rejected without consideration of their merits.

If requested by the authors, a regular submission that is not selected for a regular presentation will also be considered for a brief announcement. This request must be clearly indicated in the first page of the paper. Such a request will not affect consideration of the paper as a regular paper. A paper submitted to SSS 2015 must be an original contribution not previously published as a regular paper (results previously published as a brief announcement may be submitted as a regular paper to SSS 2015). No submission may be concurrently submitted to another conference, workshop, or journal.
