3rd International Workshop on Smart Sensor Protocols and Algorithms (SSPA 2015)
http://jlloret.webs.upv.es/sspa2015/

in conjunction with The 8th IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC' 15)
Munich, Germany, October 5-7, 2015.
http://www.wmnc2015.com/

SCOPE:

Smart Sensor protocols and algorithms make use of several methods and techniques (such as machine learning techniques, decision making techniques, knowledge representation, network optimization, problem solution techniques, and so on), to establish communication between network devices. They can be used to perceive the network conditions, or the user behavior, in order to dynamically plan, adapt, decide, take the appropriate actions, and learn from the consequences of their actions. The algorithms can make use of the information gathered from the protocol in order to sense the environment, plan actions according to the input, take consciousness of what is happening in the environment, and take the appropriate decisions using a reasoning engine. Goals such as decide which scenario fits best its end-to-end purpose, or environment prediction, can be achieved with smart protocols and algorithms. Moreover, they could learn from the past and use this knowledge to improve future de!
cisions.

In this workshop, researchers are encouraged to submit papers focused on the design, development, analysis or optimization of smart sensor protocols or algorithms at any communication layer. Algorithms and protocols based on artificial intelligence techniques for network management, network monitoring, quality of service enhancement, performance optimization and network secure are included in the workshop.

This conference edition once again targets to gather researchers from academia and industrial sectors to present analytical research, simulations, practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, and advances in sensor protocols and algorithms. The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, deployments, implementations, running experiments and applications.

CIRM-FBK (TRENTO-ITALY)

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2016 ACTIVITIES:

CONFERENCES, VISITING POSITIONS, RESEARCH IN PAIRS

The CIRM (Centro Internazionale per la Ricerca Matematica, see
http://cirm.fbk.eu ) located in Trento-Italy, wants to promote and to fund
in 2016 the following activities in the field of Mathematics Research, in
collaboration with Companies and European Research Institutes,

among them the Department of Mathematics of the University of Trento and the
Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica (INdAM).

I) Conferences. For the year 2016 CIRM foresees the
organization of a series of Conferences and mathematical Meetings well
appreciated by the International Math. Community, carrying on with a
tradition started in 1979, which has promoted and sponsored more than 270
conferences (http://cirm.fbk.eu/conferences ).

Proposals of a conference must be submitted before September 30.th, 2015,

- by ordinary mail to the address: Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Centro
Internazionale per la Ricerca Matematica, Via Sommarive n. 14 - Povo, 38123
Trento, or

- via electronic mail to the address micheletti@fbk.eu .

An application must contain:

1) a scientific proposal, with names of possible speakers,

2) a rather detailed financial budget, which CIRM will be asked to
finance partially (up to 50%),

3) specification of the other available or planned financial resources.

II) For the year 2016 CIRM activities include two more programs, a program
of CIRM Visiting Professors and CIRM Visiting Scholars and another one of
Research in Pairs, the latter similar to the one of the Mathematisches
Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach, which expects the presence of two or three
partners from Universities located in different towns, who intend to work
together at CIRM, on a definite research project for a period of time
ranging from one to six weeks.

Applications for these two programs must be sent to the address mentioned
above by ordinary or, preferred, by electronic mail. It is suggested to send
applications at least three months before the planned stay since decision
making might require a long time. Applications must contain a brief research
proposal, a C.V. and a list of publications for each applicant. For further
information please visit the websites:
<http://cirm.fbk.eu/cirm-visiting-professors>
http://cirm.fbk.eu/cirm-visiting-professors and
http://cirm.fbk.eu/research-pairs .

The Advisory Board of CIRM will evaluate all submitted proposals and
applications (http://cirm.fbk.eu/organization ).

The Director of CIRM
