The University of Konstanz is forming a multidisciplinary center for research on collective behavior and have received generous funding from the Gips-Schuele Foundation to appoint a junior research group leader in animal social networks.
Although the primary target group for this position are biologists, a strong foundation in network analysis may compensate for not knowing the Latin names of taxa by heart.

See below and http://www.uni-konstanz.de/stellenangebote/stellenauswahl.php?seite=2016/245 for details.

Best,

B.

Gips-Schüle Junior Research Group Leader in Animal Social Networks
(5 years, full time, salary scale EG 15 TV-L)

The successful candidate will lead an independent research group with a highly quantitative and experimental orientation.
The group will be an integral part of an ambitious and highly interdisciplinary initiative on collective behavior that involves several departments at the University of Konstanz including biology and computer science, the recently funded Center for Visual Computing of Collectives, http://bit.ly/2fbSCOu , and the Max-Planck Institute for Ornithology in Radolfzell and Konstanz. An affiliation with the university's Zukunftskolleg is envisaged.

Ideal candidates would have an interdisciplinary educational background in areas such as biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or the social sciences.
A PhD in one of these areas, English language proficiency, a record of research excellence and creativity, and a strong commitment to teaching are essential.
