31st IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium
May 29 – June 2, 2017
Orlando, Florida USA
Call release: January 8th, 2017.

IPDPS Student Research Program
--------------------------------------------------

* Call for Applications *

Participating students will have the opportunity to present their
research work and interact with senior academic and industry people in
an informal setting. In addition, there will be mentoring sessions to
help students improve communication skills, obtain valuable information
for career planning, get familiar with a few of the trendy research
topics, and make valuable contacts – all while enjoying the IPDPS main
conference and many associated workshops. PhD, Master and Undergraduate
students who are doing research in broadly defined areas related to
parallel and distributed processing are eligible for participation.

To encourage participation in the Student Research Program, PhD Forum
participants who are IEEE members are eligible for travel grants and
discounted registration fees. (Discounted registration fee does not
apply to students who are the sole registered author of a paper being
presented in the main conference or workshops.)

The application consists of a 2 page submission document and a letter of
support form the student advisor.

* Deadlines *

The goal is to accept as many applications as our capacity allows, but
the availability of our resources, including travel support, will limit
the number of participants in the program. To be fair, we will employ a
"first-come-first-served" approach, with a rolling selection process to
be used until the capacity is reached, based on the following schedule:

First deadline: 15 January 2017 Notification: 30 January 2017
Second deadline: 15 February 2017 Notification: 28 February 2017
Last deadline: 1 March 2017 Notification: 7 March 2017

The Student Research Program will be scheduled so that the participating
students can follow all the main scientific and social events of the
conference, and it is open to all students, including the authors of
papers presented at the conference.

For more information, please visit the Web page:

IPDPS 2017 WORKSHOPS
----------------------------------------

The IPDPS 2017 workshops will be held on Monday, May 29th and Friday,
June 2nd. IPDPS workshops provide an extended forum that allows the
IPDPS community an opportunity to fully explore special topics and to
present work that is more preliminary and cutting-edge or that has more
practical content than the more mature research presented in the main
symposium. Proceedings of the workshops are distributed at the
conference and are submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital
Library after the conference.

PLEASE NOTE
All workshops have their own Web sites and may make changes in their
submission requirements and due dates (submission deadlines for most are
after January 8, 2017, the conference notification date).

The complete list of workshops is available here:
http://www.ipdps.org/ipdps2017/2017_call_for_workshops.html

Dear all,

We will be hosting the 25th LSD & LAW (London Stringology Days & London Algorithmic Workshop 2017) at King's College London on the 9th and 10th of February 2017 (https://nms.kcl.ac.uk/informatics/events/LSD&LAW17/). The LSD&LAW meetings are organised annually by the Algorithms and Bioinformatics research group at King's College London.

Kindly let us know if you would like to give a contributing talk and provide a tentative title and abstract by 15th January 2017. Contributing talks can present recent results or work in progress with directions for future research, in the areas of discrete algorithms, stringology and graph/network algorithms. We particularly encourage talks with relevance to the additional theme of the 2017 LSD & LAW meeting - "Advances in Mathematical Aspects of Uncertain Data".

There won't be a formal registration, but to help us with preparations, kindly inform us if you are planning to attend the workshop.

We hope to seeing you in London!

Best Regards,

Ritu Kundu and Manal Mohamed

on behalf of the LSD & LAW 2017 organising committee.
