The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Brunel University, London, UK (http://www.brunel.ac.uk/siscm/mathematical-sciences) has two PhD studentships available, starting in January 2014 or soon thereafter. Both the studentships cover Home/EU tuition fees plus a minimum stipend of ?13,726, for a period of three years. One of the studentships is open to all nationalities. The other studentship is restricted to Home/EU students and offers fees plus bursary to UK students, or fees only for EU students.

The studentships are available to excellent candidates in any of the department's research areas including combinatorics and discrete mathematics. Applicant should have a first class honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics or a relevant discipline. An MSc in a relevant discipline, although not essential, might be an advantage.

Applications should comprise a CV, one page research statement, transcripts of all degree results, and two recent references. Please send these documents to Ms Frances Foster, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Brunel University, Uxbridge, UBH 3PH, UK, or email her at frances.foster@brunel.ac.uk

Informal enquiries may be made via email to Dr Paresh Date (Director of Research) at paresh.date@brunel.ac.uk
