The Department of Management Engineering invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Operations Management with a focus on Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

The Department is looking for a flexible and enthusiastic candidate, who is willing to be a part of the continuous development of an internationally strong Operations Management Group with a focus on reaching out to neighboring research areas in general and operations research more specifically. Also, we aim to further strengthen the strong collaboration with industry, commissioning institutions and government research institutes, which is a trademark of the current activities of the Department. The position is a part of the DTU initiative aiming to enhance Danish production research.

The Department research focuses on planning, innovation, and management from an engineering perspective. The aim is to develop theory, methods, and tools that can support private and public organizations in dealing with increasing demands on e.g. competitiveness, productivity and sustainability.

The Operations Management Group is part of the Division of Management Science. The division has a focus on operations research, operations management, implementation and performance management and financial engineering.

Responsibilities and tasks
Research and teaching in the operations management area encompass management and engineering approaches for an effective planning of resources and activities in production and service systems - from the strategic to the operational level, and we strive to combine strong theoretical and practical methods within the area. The associate professor will be involved in further developing application-oriented research and education in operations management in general, and supply chain management and logistics more specifically. You will be course responsible for our current educational activities in supply chain management and will be heading our initiatives in this area.

The applicant is required to conduct research in operations management and supply chain management at a high international level. Dissemination of research results is expected through scientific publications, interdisciplinary collaborative projects at national and international level, and through collaboration with organizations and industry. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate seeks and obtains external funding. Previous participation in operations research projects is an advantage.

The division contributes to a number of bachelor and master programs. The candidate should actively participate in attracting and supervising B.Sc. and M.Sc. students. The educational responsibilities also include classroom teaching, lecturing, and examinations. The candidate will also be responsible for the supervision of PhD students and postdocs and will have administrative duties including academic assessment work on all levels.

The division's teaching is mainly concentrated on master level activities, but also includes courses on bachelor level. The educational responsibilities will to the extent possible be related to the research focus area, however, flexibility is required. Please note that the expected teaching on bachelor level is required to be in Danish, and on master level it is required to be in English. International candidates are required to take courses in Danish and teach in Danish after a period to be agreed upon with the head of the division.

Last Call for Papers for the Eighteenth
Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization
IPCO XVIII, June 1-3, 2016
to be held at University of Liège in Liège, Belgium.

Submission deadline: November 20, 2015 (23:59 CET)

The IPCO conference is a forum for researchers and practitioners working on various aspects of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. The aim is to present recent developments in theory, computation, and applications. The scope of IPCO is viewed in a broad sense, to include algorithmic and structural results in integer programming and combinatorial optimization as well as revealing computational studies and novel applications of discrete optimization to practical problems.

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of their recent work by November 20, 2015 (23:59 CET); see the submission guidelines for more information. The Program Committee will select the papers to be presented on the basis of the submitted extended abstracts. Contributions are expected to be original, unpublished and not submitted to journals or conferences with proceedings before the notification date (January 31, 2016). Papers violating these requirements will not be considered by the Program Committee.

During the conference, approximately 33 papers will be presented in single-track sessions. Each lecture will be 30 minutes long. The proceedings will be published as a volume of Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science. They will contain extended abstracts of all accepted submissions. Each participant will receive a copy of the proceedings at the conference. It is expected that revised and extended versions will subsequently be submitted for publication in appropriate journals. In particular, there will be a special issue of Mathematical Programming B associated with IPCO 2016.

More information can be found on the conference webpage.
