The St.Petersburg State University seeks to hire full professors and
associate professors (docents) for teaching in the new mathematics and
theoretical computer science program. The scientific council of this
program is headed by Stanislav Smirnov. Eight positions are available:
* 1 full professor in mathematical logic, theoretical computer
science, and discrete mathematics,
* 1 docent (associate professor) in mathematical logic, theoretical
computer science, and discrete mathematics,
* 3 full professors in mathematics,
* 3 docents (associate professors) in mathematics.

Applicants are expected to have a strong research record. They should
be able to teach in Russian (teaching experience in English is an
advantage). The class load is expected to be 6 academic hours per week
for professors, 8 academic hours per week for docents. The admission
to the program is limited to 45 bright students per year, 30% of
current first-year students are math Olympiad winners.

The salary is lower bounded by guaranteed minimum of 162,240 rub/month
for full professors and by 121,980 rub/month for docents, there is no
specific upper bound: actual salary is determined based on the
qualification of a candidate. It is possible to get one-time financial
compensation for moving to St.Petersburg.

The details on the application procedure can be found at
http://spbu.ru/about-us/vacancies/9-vacancies/25554-matematika-i-mekhanika-04-03-2016.html
In addition to the formal application sent according to the
above-mentioned document, applicants are invited to send (in parallel)
their CV (mentioning in particular the names of PhD students they
supervised, if any) to Maria Rossomakhina <chebyshev.apply@gmail.com>

The minimum requirements are:

* Docents: at least three refereed publications (according to
MathSciNet/DBLP) in the last five years; the degree of PhD (foreign)
or Cand.Sci. (Russian); at least three years of experience in research
or teaching (excluding PhD studies but including work on any research
project/grants, even unpaid),

* Full professors: at least five refereed publications (according to
MathSciNet/DBLP) in the last five years; the degree of PhD (foreign)
or Doct.Sci. (Russian) or equivalent (for example, habilitation); at
least five years of experience in research or teaching (excluding PhD
studies but including work on any research project/grants, even
unpaid).

Responsibilities include lectures and seminars, advising BSc, MSc and
PhD students. Typical basic subjects that successful applicants are
expected to teach:
* ML/TCS/DM positions: discrete mathematics and combinatorics,
mathematical logic, algorithms, complexity theory,
* math positions: algebra, analysis, geometry and topology, probability theory.
As the program grows, there will be need to cover also more advanced
(graduate) courses.

Applications and questions on formalities should be sent to personnel
officer Olga Ivanova <o.a.ivanova@spbu.ru>
Less formal questions should be sent to Maria Rossomakhina
