==========================================================================================
Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor positions in Data
Science at the University of Warwick
==========================================================================================

Three academic positions at the University of Warwick connected with the
Alan Turing Institute (all levels)

Departments: Computer Science, Statistics, and Mathematics (joint
appointments would be considered)

Three enthusiastic individuals are sought to be part of the Warwick
involvement in the newly created Alan Turing Institute (ATI;
http://www.turing.ac.uk/), of which Warwick is a founding partner (with
Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford and UCL).

You will have expertise regarding the current issues in data science and
the drive to address them at a fundamental level while being part of a
collaborative team from researchers across the mathematical sciences at
Warwick and more widely within the ATI. Applicants for senior positions
will have an excellent publication record and proven ability to secure
research funding.

This is an opportunity to join one or more of the world's most prominent
and most research-active departments in the Mathematical Sciences and to
be part of the Alan Turing Institute (ATI). The ATI is the new data
science institute, with a mission to undertake world-leading data
science research at the intersection of computer science, mathematics,
statistics and systems engineering, and to act as a magnet for leaders
in academia and industry from around the world to engage with the UK in
data science and its applications.

Informal enquires can be addressed to:
Professor Stephen Jarvis (S.A.Jarvis@warwick.ac.uk), Computer Science,
or to any senior member of the Warwick departments involved.

Closing date: 25 March 2016.

Applicants are asked to include a research statement which outlines how
their research (past and future) fits with the ATI mission and research
at Warwick. Applicants at Assistant/Associate levels should ensure that
their referees send a letter of reference by 25 March to
Ruth.Cooper@warwick.ac.uk.

ANTS 2016
Tenth International Conference on Swarm Intelligence

September 7-9, 2016. Brussels, Belgium

Call for papers prepared on March 2, 2016
More details and up-to-date information at
http://iridia.ulb.ac.be/ants2016

Scope of the Conference
=======================

Swarm intelligence is the discipline that deals with the study of
self-organizing processes both in nature and in artificial systems.
Researchers in ethology and animal behavior have proposed a number of
models to explain interesting aspects of social insect behavior such
as self-organization and shape-formation. Recently, algorithms and
methods inspired by these models have been proposed to solve difficult
problems in many domains.

An example of a particularly successful research direction in swarm
intelligence is ant colony optimization, the main focus of which is on
discrete optimization problems. Ant colony optimization has been
applied successfully to a large number of difficult discrete
optimization problems including the traveling salesman problem, the
quadratic assignment problem, scheduling, vehicle routing, etc., as
well as to routing in telecommunication networks. Another interesting
approach is that of particle swarm optimization, that mainly focuses
on continuous optimization problems. Here too, a number of successful
applications can be found in the recent literature. Swarm robotics is
another relevant field. Here, the focus is on applying swarm
intelligence techniques to the control of large groups of cooperating
autonomous robots.

ANTS 2016 will give researchers in swarm intelligence the opportunity
to meet, to present their latest research, and to discuss current
developments and applications.

The three-day conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on September
7-9, 2016.

Relevant Research Areas
=======================

ANTS 2016 solicits contributions dealing with any aspect of swarm
intelligence. Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest are:

Behavioral models of social insects or other animal societies that
can stimulate new algorithmic approaches.

Empirical and theoretical research in swarm intelligence.

Application of swarm intelligence methods, such as ant colony
optimization or particle swarm optimization, to real-world problems.

Theoretical and experimental research in swarm robotics systems.

Publication Details
===================

Conference proceedings will be published by Springer in the LNCS.
series.

The journal Swarm Intelligence will publish a special issue dedicated
to ANTS 2016 that will contain extended versions of the best research
works presented at the conference. Further details will soon be
published on the web site.

Subject: [DMANET] EURO2016: Stream on "Scheduling, Sequencing, and
Applications": Deadline extended
Message-ID: <56D81EBA.7060203@wiwi.uni-wuppertal.de>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed

The deadline for abstract submission for the EURO 2016 conference
(http://www.euro2016.poznan.pl) expired two days ago but, due to many
requests received, it has been decided to extend it till

March 15, 2016.

It is not likely the deadline will be extended further so you have
just two weeks to submit your abstract and be part of an exceptional
scientific and human event this summer in the beautiful and friendly
town of Poznan.

We, Stefano Giordani (stefano.giordani@uniroma2.it) and Dirk Briskorn (briskorn@uni-wuppertal.de), are
organizing a stream on "Scheduling, Sequencing, and Applications"
within the area of "Scheduling, Timetabling and Project Management".

We wonder whether you (or a colleague of yours) may be interested in
contributing to this stream by organizing a session or presenting a
paper.

*SESSIONS*
Organizing a session involves choosing the specific topic, contacting
speakers,
and handling their submissions in the online system of the conference,
to which you will get access then.
Usually, but not necessarily, the session organizer is also session
speaker and/or chair. The number of talks is 4.

*PAPERS*
If you would like to submit a paper, please use the session code
da76c1b6
for the session "Scheduling, Sequencing, and Applications".
Abstracts: max. 1500 characters; submission deadline: March 15, 2016.
No participant can present more than one paper at the Conference.
Abstract submission system is available online, via the Conference web page
(http://www.euro2016.poznan.pl/abstract-submission/
orhttps://www.euro-online.org/conf/euro28/).

Please note that you must login onhttp://www.euro-online.org/ in
order to submit a paper. If you do not yet have a login account,
please create one using the link above. If you already have an
account, for example from previous EURO or IFORS conferences, please
login using these details.

If you are interested in organizing a session and/or presenting a
paper for this stream, please let uns known at your earliest
convenience, thank you.
