Rewriting is a branch of computer science whose origins go back to the
origins of computer science itself (with Thue, Church, Post, and many
other prominent researchers). It has strong links with mathematics,
algebra, and logic, and it is the basis of well-known programming
paradigms like functional and equational programming, which are taught
at the universitary level in many countries. In these programming
paradigms and corresponding languages, the notions of reduction, pattern
matching, confluence, termination, strategy, etc., are essential.
Rewriting provides a solid framework for understanding, using, and
teaching all these notions. Rewriting techniques are also used in many
other areas of software engineering (scripting, prototyping, automated
transformation of legacy systems, refactoring, web services, etc.) and
are implemented in popular systems like Mathematica, Autocad, and
others. Rewriting techniques play a relevant role in computing research,
education, and industry.
The International School on Rewriting is promoted by the IFIP Working

Technology has gone through tremendous changes in terms of computing, communications and control to provide wide range of applications in all domains. This advancement provides the opportunities to bridge the physical components/processes and the cyber space leading to the Cyber Physical Systems (CPS). The notion of CPS is to use computing (sensing, analyzing, predicting, understanding, etc.), communication (interaction, intervene, interface management, etc.) and control (inter-operate, evolve, evidence-based certification, etc.) to make intelligent and autonomous systems. Such systems are playing an increasingly prevalent and important role in this electronic era such as healthcare, manufacturing, civil infrastructure, aerospace, entertainment, transportation and many automated physical systems. Computing and networking are two major components of CPS and Cloud has infinite resources for both. Cloud-integrated CPS will not only enhance CPS itself but also process, analyze!
and manage (CPS) big data efficien
tly. However, there are many issues and hurdles of Cloud-integrated CPS that need discussions.
Our aim is to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to present their research results in the area of Cloud-integrated Cyber-Physical Systems. The proposed workshop CloudCPS-2014 will serve as a forum for researchers from academia, government and industries to exchange ideas, present new results and provide future visions on these topics.
Topics of interest include but not limited to:
- Cloud-CPS Architecture
- Cloud-CPS Modeling and Simulation
- Virtualization of Physical Components in Cloud-CPS
- Design and Performance Optimization in Cloud-CPS
- Cloud-assisted Situation-aware and decision support
- Big-data Processing and Visualization in Cloud-CPS
- Mobile Cloud-CPS
- Game Theory for Cloud-CPS
- Tools and Methods for Cloud-CPS
- Sensor-actuator Networks
- Security, Privacy, and Trust in Cloud-CPS
- Intelligent (Road/Air) Transportation Cloud-CPS
- Cloud-CPS in healthcare

********************************************************************

Call for submissions:
Over the last decade, parameterized complexity analysis for NP-hard
problems
has developed into one of the most prospering areas in algorithms and
complexity
research. So far, the main research focus is on purely theoretical
analysis (mostly
concerning graph-theoretic problems).
However, practical success often relies on one or more of the following
aspects:
* The problem under study occurs in real-world applications and
ideally
comes along with real-world data for testing.
* The considered parameterization yields small parameter values in
real-world
instances.
* The running time analysis accounts for the combinatorial
explosion behind
exponential parameter functions, as well as for polynomial
running time factors in
the overall input size.
We invite submissions that address one or more of the aforementioned
points in
analyzing the parameterized complexity of NP-hard problems, which arises
from
application areas including (but not limited to) network analysis
(biological, social,
and technical), computational geometry, SAT solving, bioinformatics, string
problems, operations research and combinatorial optimization, computational
social choice, data clustering, and mining.
We particularly welcome submissions that introduce new but practically
relevant
problem formulations and/or parameterizations, present linear-time fixed-
parameter tractability and/or kernelization results, or that take into
account
aspects of algorithm engineering. In particular, such aspects could
include the
measurement or estimation of parameter values in real-world data.
Finally, feature
papers or surveys addressing some of the above aspects are also of
interest.
Keywords
* NP-hard problems
* exact algorithms
* fixed-parameter tractability
* kernelization and data reduction
* efficient algorithms
* algorithm engineering
The deadline for submission is 31 May 2014, but you may send your
manuscript
at any time before then. All submissions are peer-reviewed and accepted
papers
will be published immediately. If you plan to contribute, please send a
short
abstract to the Editorial Office (algorithms@mdpi.com).
Algorithms is an open access journal, which has no income from selling
subscriptions. To defray the editorial and production costs, the journal
levies an
Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted papers. Please refer to
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/algorithms/apc/ for more information. The
charge
currently is of 300 CHF (Swiss Francs) per accepted paper.

Abstract:
Recently, nanotechnology has emerged as a novel evolution in technology enabling the design of miniaturized devices at nanoscale level (i.e., nanorobots and nanoparticles). At this scale, the behaviors and characteristics of nanodevices require a deep understanding and a revision of well-known features of devices at the macroscale level.
A set of nanodevices, sharing the same medium (e.g., the biological tissue or the bloody flow) and collaborating for the same task, forms a nanonetwork. Nanonetworks are expected to expand the capabilities of single nanodevices and enable new nanotechnology applications in biomedical, environmental, military, industrial, and consumer fields.
Electromagnetic Body Area NanoNETworks (E-BANNET) represent a novel field of research that will allow the interconnection of various components to support health monitoring, medical diagnoses and treatment, telemedicine, sensing, and assistance to people with disabilities.
E-BANNET is intended to have a twofold aim of both telecommunications and electromagnetic issues in body area nanonetworks. The main goal of this special track is to involve researchers and academics from various and inter-disciplinary fields of study, such as electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, materials science, bio-engineering, bio-technology, and nanotechnology.
Topics of interest:
We invite submissions to E-BANNET special track with original (unpublished and not currently under review) and novel contributions on electromagnetic body area nanonetworks, in areas including (but not limited to), the following:
? Communications Techniques for E-BANNET
? Terahertz Band Communication:
? Intra-body Channel Modeling & Capacity Analysis
? Modulation and Channel Coding
? Near Field Communication:
? Intra-body Propagation Modeling
? Modulation and Channel Coding
? Protocols and architectures for E-BANNET
? Medium Access Control
? Synchronization and Flow Control
? Error Control
? Addressing
? Routing and Neighbor Discovery
