Paper categories

There are two categories of submission – full papers (submission now
closed) and exploratory papers. The later submission deadline for
exploratory papers allows quick reporting of recent discoveries, work
-in-progress and/or partial results. Submissions in the exploratory
category go through a less rigorous evaluation process than those in
the full paper category. Exploratory papers will not be included in the
LNCS proceedings; however, they will be printed locally and given to
conference participants.

Submission

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of no more than 8
pages via the EasyChair system at

https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=automata2016

Submissions should contain original research that has not previously
been published. Submission must be formatted in LaTeX using the LNCS
format (see http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs/lncs+authors) and
submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF). Papers authored or co
-authored by PC members are also welcome.

ABOUT ADFOCS
---------------------
ADFOCS is an international summer school held annually at the Max Planck
Institute for Informatics (MPII). It is organized as part of the activities
of the MPII, in particular the International Max-Planck Research School
(IMPRS), MPII's graduate program. The purpose of this summer school is to
introduce young researchers to topics which are the focus of current
research in theoretical computer science. We bring together three leading
researchers in the field and international participants at the graduate
level and above. This year's focus is on "Foundations of Distributed
Computing."

PROGRAM
--------------
Our invited speakers give five 105-minute lectures/exercises, allowing for
discussions. The lecturers are (in alphabetical order):
* Maurice Herlihy, Brown University, USA
* Rotem Oshman, Tel-Aviv University, Israel
* Roger Wattenhofer, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

LOCATION & TRAVEL INFORMATION
------------------------------------------------
ADFOCS will be held at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in
Saarbrücken, Germany. Saarbrücken is easily reachable from Frankfurt,
Stuttgart, Paris, or Luxembourg. Technically, Saarbrücken also has its own
international airport.

REGISTRATION
--------------------
The registration fee is EUR 130 for *early registration until July 15* and
EUR 180 after that date. The fee covers lunches and social events. It does
not include accommodation, but we can help you with your reservations.
Per-night prices, including taxes and breakfast, typically range from about
EUR 20 (youth hostel, double room) to about EUR 70 (hotel, single room). A
limited number of grants for graduate students or young researchers are
available. For application please send your CV until *June 1*. Further,
please have your supervisor at your institute send an email with a brief
letter of recommendation, certifying in particular your relation with the
topics in ADFOCS, before the *deadline*.

Dear all,

Please see below for the details regarding one PhD thesis available
in Centre Microélectronique de Provence at École des Mines de
Saint-Étienne, Campus Gardanne.

---------------------------------------
Thesis Brief
Development of Global Control Plans in Semiconductor Fabrication
With the rapid advancement of IT, high-tech production industries (in
particular semiconductor companies) have urged to implement the Advanced
Process Control (APC) framework, for not only better product quality but
also efficient production control. The main activities within APC, such as
the feedback/feed-forward control, process fault detection, and virtual
metrology, have been studied for decades. However, the Run-to-Run (R2R)
models, though well established, are always built based on physics and
chemistry knowledge given the product quality input without considering the
equipment status or production scheduling plan. Since the R2R models can be
put in effect only when quality information is measured, they become less
timely compared to the real time equipment and production plan. It has
motivated the main concept of this thesis where real time and predictive
equipment condition shall be adaptively taken into account in the R2R
models such that the process runs are to be fine-tuned for better quality
control, more effective production flow, and more efficient equipment
utilization.
