Camera-ready for pre-proceedings: August 10, 2014

Symposium: September 11-12, 2014

PROCEEDINGS:
Accepted papers will be published in full text in hardcopy

of Springer Verlag.

TCS JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE: As in previous years, selected high-quality
papers will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of the
Theoretical Computer Science (TCS) Journal.

HOW TO SUBMIT: Full papers are to be submitted electronically using the
EasyChair server.
Original research papers must contain results that have not previously
appeared and have not been concurrently submitted to a journal or
conference with published proceedings. Each paper should select a track
to submit to. Since there can be a lot of overlap of the three tracks,
the selection of a track is a suggestion and all papers will be handled
by the single PC to ensure that each paper is handled by PC members of
the expertise area. Authors need to ensure that for each accepted paper
at least one author will register and attend the symposium. Submissions
are limited to twelve (12) single-column pages on letter/A4-size paper
(using at least 11 point font, 1 inch margins, standard line spacing,
preferably formatted in the LNCS style). This includes figures, but
excludes references and an optional appendix (to be read at the program
committee's discretion).

and at Frankfurt University in Germany. The center covers all areas of
the design, analysis and implementation of algorithms and data
structures for processing massive data (interpreted broadly to cover
computations where data is large compared to the computational
resources), but with a main focus on I/O-efficient, cache-oblivious and
data stream algorithms.

AIM:

SSTiC 2014 is the second edition in a series started in 2013. For the
previous event, see http://grammars.grlmc.com/SSTiC2013/

SSTiC 2014 will be a research training event mainly addressed to PhD
students and PhD holders in the first steps of their academic career. It
intends to update them about the most recent developments in the diverse
branches of computer science and its neighbouring areas. To that purpose,
renowned scholars will lecture and will be available for interaction with
the audience.

SSTiC 2014 will cover the whole spectrum of computer science through 6
keynote lectures and 22 six-hour courses dealing with some of the most
lively topics in the field. The organizers share the idea that outstanding
speakers will really attract the brightest students.

ADDRESSED TO:

Graduate students from around the world. There are no formal pre-requisites
in terms of the academic degree the attendee must hold. However, since there
will be several levels among the courses, reference may be made to specific
knowledge background in the description of some of them.

SSTiC 2014 is also appropriate for more senior people who want to keep
themselves updated on developments in their own field or in other branches
of computer science. They will surely find it fruitful to listen and discuss
with scholars who are main references in computing nowadays.

*** Paper Submission: 29 June, 2014
*** Notification: 9 August, 2014
*** Meeting: 16 September, 2014

================================================================

The 7th Workshop on Membrane Computing and Biologically Inspired Process
Calculi (MeCBIC 2014) will take place in Bucharest on 16th September 2014
as a related event of ICTAC 2014, the 11th International Colloquium on
Theoretical Aspects of Computing.

If your work is related to MeCBIC topics, it is now a good opportunity to
submit a paper (of about 16 pages), using the web page
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mecbic2014.

================================================================
AIMS AND SCOPE

The modeling and the analysis of biological systems has attracted the
interest of several research communities. The main aim of the workshop is
to bring together researchers in concurrency theory, formal methods, and
related fields that are interested to present recent results and to
discuss new ideas concerning such formalisms, their properties and
relationships. We welcome contributions that address both theoretical and
applied contributions related to the relevance and potential of formal
methods in biology. Topics of interest include (but not limited to):

- Biologically inspired models and calculi (rewrite systems, process
calculi, Petri nets, etc.);
- Theoretical links and comparison of different biological inspired formal
models;
- Qualitative biological modeling;
- Quantitative formal methods;
- Modelling, analysis and simulation tools for biologically inspired systems.

The workshop proceedings will be published in the Electronic Proceedings
in Theoretical Computer Science. After the event, papers presented at the
workshop will be invited to be furtherly extended and submitted to a
special issue of a visible journal (indexed by DBLP, SCOPUS, Web of
Science, etc)

================================================================
PAST EVENTS

The first edition of MeCBIC was held in Venice in 2006 (co-located with
ICALP 2006). The second MeCBIC was held in Iasi in 2008, the third one
took place in Bologna (as a satellite event of CONCUR 2009), the forth one
in Jena, the fifth in Paris and the sixth in Newcastle. The previous
proceedings of the MeCBIC workshops have been published as ENTCS volumes
171(2) and 227 (2006 and 2008), EPTCS volumes 11, 40 and 100 (2009, 2010
and 2012), in arXiv.org in 2011. A selection of revised papers from 2008,
2009 and 2009 appeared in Theoretical Computer Science volume 431 in 2012.

Senior Lecturer/Reader in Management Science/Operational Research
Department of Management Science, Strathclyde Business School
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland

The Department of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer or Reader in Management Science/Operational Research (MS/OR). The appointee is expected to be an accomplished and enthusiastic researcher in Management Science/Operational Research. We particularly welcome applications from, but are not limited to, those with a research interest in the areas of operations management, innovation, simulation. We seek individuals who have a strong methodological basis, the potential to make significant research contributions and an ability to translate theory to practice through collaborative research with user groups. The department has a strong reputation in both theory and collaborative research, runs a popular Masters programme in MS/OR, and has a strong doctoral programme. It is part of Strathclyde Business School, one of the top ranking UK Business Schools.

MS/OR is a key area for the university in developing its Technology and Innovation Centre. This centre links industry and public bodies with the university through programmes in Energy, Health, Future Cities and Advanced Manufacturing. MS/OR researchers contribute to each of these themes. Strathclyde's Technology and Innovation Centre sits alongside its other industrial research centres and the UK's first Fraunhofer Centre. The university's innovative approach to industrial collaboration is one of the factors that led it to being awarded UK University of the Year in 2012 and UK Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2013. The university's rapidly developing industrial research collaborations offers tremendous opportunities for MS/OR researchers.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Susan Howick (Head of Department). Telephone +44 141 548 3798; email: susan.howick@strath.ac.uk

Online applications can be found at http://vacancies.strath.ac.uk/ and should be submitted by the closing date of 22nd June 2014. Further information about the department is available at http://www.strath.ac.uk/mansci/.
