CALL FOR PAPERS: DEADLINE EXTENDED!

EWSDN 2014: 3rd European Workshop on Software Defined Networks
?
http://ewsdn.eu

1-3 September 2014 in Budapest, Hungary.

IMPORTANT DATES

.????????????? Paper registration: * 18 May 2014 * (firm)

.????????????? Notification of acceptance: 1 July 2014
.????????????? Camera ready papers due: 1 August 2014
.????????????? Conference dates: 1-3 September 2014

SYNOPSIS AND GOAL

Software Defined Networking is undoubtedly one of the chief trends in the
ICT area. In the past years we have seen all big players in the networking
arena starting to ride the SDN. Standardization work is actively ongoing in
the Open Networking Forum (ONF), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
(e.g., I2RS, freshly formed Service Function Chaining (SFC) workgroup or
recent initiatives to form VNFPool), while the European Telecommunications
Standards Institute (ETSI) just released several group specifications on
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). On top of the several existing
open-source SDN controllers, OpenDaylight reached significant momentum last
year and arrived to its first official release in February 2014.

One goal of the workshop is to bring together industry and academia on the
topics of SDN; in particular the workshop will feature an "industry forum",
i.e., a session with presentations of key industrial players.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORKSHOP

We are interested in both papers showing consolidated results and in
position papers bringing up innovative ideas. Topics for contributions
include, but are not limited to, the following:
-????????????? Virtualization architectures
-????????????? Forwarding abstractions, APIs, object models
-????????????? Network Function Virtualization and SDN, network
virtualization techniques
-????????????? Optical extensions to OpenFlow, SDN
-????????????? Wireless integration, characterization of wireless
interfaces, flows, handover support
-????????????? Evolved packet core, LTE support for OpenFlow
-????????????? New controller architectures, APIs and northbound interfaces
-????????????? Interoperation of cloud architectures and SDN
-????????????? New switch architectures supporting SDN
-????????????? New networking paradigms like Information Centric Networks
(ICN) and relation to SDN
-????????????? Security implications of SDN and security enhancements to
SDN, as well as new security services enabled by SDN
-????????????? Carrier-grade SDN architectures and equipment
-????????????? Practical experiments on SDN/Cloud/OpenFlow
-????????????? Testbeds
-????????????? Identification of use cases for SDN, SDN related business
models, strategic role of SDN in network evolution
-????????????? Regulatory aspects around network virtualization
-????????????? SDN frameworks and tools, SDN based equipment: controllers,
switches, integrated development environment, testing and debugging
environment.

Dear all,

I am re-publishing the call for the ACP Summer School 2014, which will be held coming June in Bologna. Compared to previous calls for the same event, we have granted a deadline extension (both for registering and for booking rooms).

The summer school will cover topics related to Constraint Programming, Hybrid Methods (in particular CP and Operations Research), and the application of such techniques to real world problems.

The school is meant for both optimisation researchers and practitioners.

In my humble (and a bit biased!) opinion, thanks to the combination of hands-on sessions and high-quality lectures, this school could be a great occasion to know about Constraint Programming and Hybrids, to study such techniques in deeper detail, and to hear first-hand experience about their application on practical problems.?

Best regards,

Michele

The 2014 edition of the ACP Summer School will be held in Bologna (Italy), with
the topic "Practical Constraint Programming".

The school is meant for CP researchers and practitioners with an academic or
industrial background, interested in using Constraint Programming and Hybrid
Methods to tackle real world optimization problems.

The school lecturers include renowned experts in the field as well as young
talented researchers. In particular, lectures will be given by:

* Michela Milano (University of Bologna)
* Pascal Van Hentenryck (NICTA)
* Laurent Perron (Google)
* Paul Shaw (IBM)
* Willem-Jan van Hoeve (Carnegie Mellon University)
* Andrea Lodi (University of Bologna and IBM)
* Louis-Martin Rousseau (CIRRELT, Polytechnique de Montr?al)
* Hadrien Cambazard (Grenoble Institute of Technology)

The lectures will cover technical topics as well as the experience of the
speakers about tackling real world problems. More details can be found on the
school web site at: http://school.a4cp.org/summer2014/

The school will also feature a substantial amount of hands-on sessions,
organized by Laurent Perron, using the "Google or-tools" system (participants
should bring their laptops).

The school has a fee of 150? and the application deadline is May 25 2014

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? === APPLICATION ===

Any motivated candidate is encouraged to apply: this includes Ph.D. students,
but also Master Students, Post-Docs, researchers, and professionals or R&D
staff from the industry.

The school has a fee of 150?. The fee covers all course materials, coffee
breaks, WiFi Internet Connection at the conference centre, and the social
program (including a dinner in an Italian restaurant). You can register here:
http://school.a4cp.org/summer2014/registration

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?=== ACCOMMODATION ===

Rooms are available for a convenient price at Camplus Living Bononia (the same
building where the lectures take place). For more information, check the summer
school web site. As a guideline, rooms should be booker directly by the
participants. It is possible to ask us to arrange a double/multiple room to
further reduce the costs: in case you are interested, we should be informed by
**May 9**.

during ECCS 2014 (www.eccs14.eu), on the 25th of September 2014 (afternoon).

Topics of interest of the workshop are:

- detecting integrated dynamical structures
- understanding the dynamics of integrated subsystems
- discovering, designing and driving hidden dynamical structures
- providing tools for complex systems design
- understanding emergence and self-organization
