PhD fellowship on Theory of Constraint Satisfaction.

Start date: October 2014 or shortly thereafter.

A PhD fellowship to work on theory of constraint satisfaction is
available at the DTIC department, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona,
Spain). The fellowship provides an annual stipend of at least 11718?
per annum for four years. The fellowship covers the annual tutorship
fees but not the administrative fees. It includes teaching assistance
duties for about 60 hours per year.

The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Victor Dalmau, on
the mathematical and algorithmic aspects of Constraint Satisfaction.
Applicants should have a master degree or equivalent and a high degree
of mathematical maturity. We are looking for students with a
background in theoretical computer science or mathematics, with
interest in one or more of the following areas: discrete mathematics,
computational complexity, algorithms, logic, universal algebra.

Interested applicants should contact Dr. Victor Dalmau, Department of
Information and Communication Technologies, Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ADDICTION
*******************************************************

ADDICTION is the second international event organised by the Inria
AMICI International Partnership (http://team.inria.fr/bamboo/amici/).

Its focus is on:
- smart data structures;
- algorithm engineering and experimental algorithms;
- probabilistic algorithms;
- (M)ILP approaches simple and enumerative.
On the application side there will be a special interest in computational
biology. The School is addressed to young researchers at the PhD
student or postdoc level, but may, depending on space, greet other
interested participants. The scope of ADDICTION is international.

COURSES AND LECTURERS
***********************************

The school features the following four lecturers:

* Friedrich Eisenbrandt (EPFL, Switzerland)

* Giuseppe Italiano (University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Italy)

* Kurt Melhorn (Max-Planck-Institute f?r Informatik at
Saarbr?cken, Germany)

* Eli Upfal (Brown University, USA)

A title for their lectures will be provided soon on the school?s
website.

LOCATION
*************

ADDICTION will be held at the Olissippo Marqu?s de S? hotel,
in Lisbon, Portugal. The hotel is a 2-minutes walk away from the
