Postdoctoral Position in Algorithms
University of Bonn

A postdoctoral position is available in the Algorithms Group at the
Department of Computer Science at the University of Bonn, Germany. The
group consists currently of five faculty members (Norbert Blum, Marek
Karpinski, Rolf Klein, Stefan Kratsch, Heiko Röglin), several postdocs
and PhD students.

The position will be for one year initially with the possibility of
extension. It comes with a competitive salary, generous travel support,
and low teaching load. The postdoc may pursue his/her own line of
research but a focus related to the existing research areas of the group
is very welcome.

The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in computer science or
mathematics and should have a strong publication record in Theoretical
Computer Science.

Applications will be reviewed starting from March 1, 2016 until the
position is filled. The envisioned starting date is summer 2016, but
other starting dates may be negotiable.

Please send your application (including a cover letter, a curriculum
vitae, a list of publications, and the names and contact information of
at least two references) to the address below. Electronic submissions
are highly encouraged (please attach relevant documents as pdf).

Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the Session on Preferences and Problem Formulation inMulticriteria Optimization within Multiobjective Optimization stream of 28thEUropean Conference on Operational Research 2016 (EURO 2016) to be held in Poznan, Poland on 3-6 July 2016, for more informationabout the conference see http://www.euro2016.poznan.pl.

SESSIONDESCRIPTION

Multicriteria optimization deals with finding optimalsolutions with conflicting objectives and constraints, in typically largesearch spaces. Often there is some degree of freedom in how to formulate theproblem and how to represent the search space. The problem formulation dependson the one hand on the algorithms, as certain algorithms require certainstructures of the search space (e.g. mixed integer formulations, or continuousformulations). On the other hand the preferences of the decision maker shouldbe reflected in the problem formulation. A relatively new topic is also toformulate preferences on sets or distribution of points, e.g. by using performanceindicators for Pareto front approximations. This session invites bothcontributions that are of more theoretical nature as well as real worldexamples where the problem formulation is a key issue of discussion.

SUBMISSIONS

Theabstract submission process is managed by EURO. If you do not yet have a EUROlogin account, please createone. If you already have an account, for example from the previousEURO or IFORS conferences, you will be able to login using these details.

Abstractsmust be written in English and contain no more than 1,500 characters (noformulas or mathematical notations are allowed).

Eachattendee is allowed to present one paper at the conference.

Thedeadline for submission is 1 March 2016, which can be done here: http://www.euro2016.poznan.pl/abstract-submission/

Thenotification of acceptance will be sent until 31 March 2016.

Forinclusion in the final programme and in the conference materials, the authorsneed to register and pay a conference fee before 15 April 2016. Thus, the listof conference participants who will present their papers at EURO 2016 will beclosed just after the deadline of 15 April 2016 is passed. When registering andpaying the fee after 15 April 2016, you can still attend the conference, however, without presenting your paper.
