CALL FOR PAPERS

[Scope]

Global warming and climate change have been a growing worldwide concern. Six sources, i.e., transportation, power, buildings, industry, agriculture and forestry, and land use, have been identified as major contributors to the rise of global carbon dioxide (CO2). The mobile industry is seen as a potential enabler to reduce greenhouse gases contributed by these six sources provided that appropriate measures are implemented. On the other hand, the mobile industry itself will also contribute to CO2 emission through network operations, mobile equipments, etc. To meet the requirement of low-carbon economy development, it is necessary to reduce the operation expenditure or energy consumption of mobile networks, while maintaining acceptable quality of service. This conference will explore and explain the scope and challenges of designing, building, and deploying GreeNets. In this regard, the conference aims to establish a forum to bring together research professionals from diverse f!
ields including green mobile networ
ks, system architectures, networking & communication protocols, applications, test-bed and prototype, traffic balance and energy-efficient cooperation transmission, system and application issues related to GreeNets.

[Topics]

The conference invites original technical papers that were not previously published and are not currently under review for publication elsewhere. Topics include, but are not limited to:

ANTS 2016
Tenth International Conference on Swarm Intelligence

September 7-9, 2016. Brussels, Belgium

Call for papers prepared on October 5, 2015
More details and up-to-date information at
http://iridia.ulb.ac.be/ants2016

Scope of the Conference
=======================

Swarm intelligence is the discipline that deals with the study of
self-organizing processes both in nature and in artificial systems.
Researchers in ethology and animal behavior have proposed a number of
models to explain interesting aspects of social insect behavior such
as self-organization and shape-formation. Recently, algorithms and
methods inspired by these models have been proposed to solve difficult
problems in many domains.

An example of a particularly successful research direction in swarm
intelligence is ant colony optimization, the main focus of which is on
discrete optimization problems. Ant colony optimization has been
applied successfully to a large number of difficult discrete
optimization problems including the traveling salesman problem, the
quadratic assignment problem, scheduling, vehicle routing, etc., as
well as to routing in telecommunication networks. Another interesting
approach is that of particle swarm optimization, that mainly focuses
on continuous optimization problems. Here too, a number of successful
applications can be found in the recent literature. Swarm robotics is
another relevant field. Here, the focus is on applying swarm
intelligence techniques to the control of large groups of cooperating
autonomous robots.

ANTS 2016 will give researchers in swarm intelligence the opportunity
to meet, to present their latest research, and to discuss current
developments and applications.

The three-day conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on September
7-9, 2016.

Relevant Research Areas
=======================

ANTS 2016 solicits contributions dealing with any aspect of swarm
intelligence. Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest are:

Behavioral models of social insects or other animal societies that
can stimulate new algorithmic approaches.

Empirical and theoretical research in swarm intelligence.

Application of swarm intelligence methods, such as ant colony
optimization or particle swarm optimization, to real-world problems.

Theoretical and experimental research in swarm robotics systems.

Publication Details
===================

Conference proceedings will be published by Springer in the LNCS.

The journal Swarm Intelligence will publish a special issue dedicated
to ANTS 2016 that will contain extended versions of the best research
works presented at the conference. Further details will soon be
published on the web site.

**************************************************

We are pleased to announce that the abstract submission deadline for the
fifth PhD Student Conference on Operational Research (SCOR 2016) has
been *extended*. We invite you to join us once again, at the beautiful
University of Nottingham campus on the 8th-10th of April 2016.

The conference takes place just after the NATCOR course, which will also
be held in Nottingham.

PhD students from all European Universities studying Operational
Research, Management Science or a related field are kindly invited to
submit an abstract for presentation at the conference. As some
presenters may still be on an early stage of in their careers, the work
presented does not need to be fully developed or thoroughly explored as
of yet. The purpose of SCOR 2016 is to provide a friendly environment
for the next generation of Operational Researchers to receive
constructive feedback on their work and to meet people with similar
interests.

**** *New* Deadline for abstracts (250 words) submission: ****
**** Friday 26th February 2016 ****

Presenters are also invited to submit a paper (no more than 10 pages) on
their work to be published electronically as part of the SCOR 2016
proceedings. This will be available in the Dagstuhl OpenAccess Series in
Informatics (OASIcs). Paper submissions will undergo a selection
process based on refereeing by the Committee. This gives doctoral
candidates a chance to experience the peer-review process and to enhance
their technical writing skills. Although it is not mandatory, it is
again, highly recommended. To get an idea on the paper standards please
visit the SCOR 2014 proceedings at
http://drops.dagstuhl.de/portals/oasics/index.php?semnr=12005.

**** Deadline for papers (max 10 pages) submission: ****
**** Friday 25th March 2016 ****

Registration for SCOR 2016 is now open and costs a mere £120 (or £75 if
you do not require accommodation). The registration fee includes a
presentation slot, publication of selected papers, 2 nights' B&B
accommodation (on Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th), lunches and
coffee breaks on all days, and 2 evening social events. To register,
please go to
